Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Italy (preferably in morning), collection of group from Turin airport. Drive to Piemonte Bike Tours farmhouse base in the Alta Langhe region. Finalise paperwork and assign motorcycles. Check-in to accommodation, Welcome dinner (courtesy of PBT) at a local restaurant / ”Trattoria”.

Day 2

Breakfast, and then take a scenic ride south towards the French border passing through the oldest and highest road tunnel through the Maritime Alps. We will ride along the beautiful Roya Valley stopping at a restaurant for lunch then continue through stunning scenery entering back in to Italy to arrive at the Ligurian coast. From here we head east towards the coastal town of Savona where we stop for the night in a seafront hotel.

Day 3

Breakfast, then ride eastwards along the ligurian coast passing through the port town of Genoa and following the Mediterranean coastline on into the Tuscan city of Pisa by late afternoon. If the group wishes we can visit the famous “leaning tower” or simply take a rest and a coffee/ ice cream at one of the many street cafes or gelaterias. From here we take a short ride back up the coast to Viareggio where we stop for the night.

 Day 4

After breakfast, we head for the enchanting capital city of Tuscany, Florence then on through some typical Tuscan countryside to Bologna arriving at Maranello (home of Ferrari) late afternoon. Stop here for the night.

Day 5

It would be rude for any self respecting “petrol head” whilst visiting Maranello, not call in at the Famous Ferrari museum – so we will make a short visit here in the morning!  Having soaked up enough red paint and nostalgia we ride north to Verona (for the romantics – the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet). From here we turn west and on to Lake Garda where we stop for the night.

Day 6

Breakfast, then follow the shoreline road of Lake Garda to the northern most point of the lake, here we head westwards through the foothills and towns of the Dolomites to yet another picturesque town, Bergamo.

Day 7

Leaving Bergamo we will ride west passing the southern shores of Lake Como and Maggiore heading towards the beautiful & mountainous Valle D’Aosta bordering with France and Switzerland. We will stop overnight here and enjoy the fresh alpine air and crisp climate of one of the northern most regions in Italy.

Day 8

Today is the long ride home – but before leaving this alpine wonderland we will make a short detour (road conditions allowing) along one of the many mountain passes that cross this region looping back to Aosta then heading south back in to the heart of Piemonte, through Pinerolo and passing Monviso (urban legend says that this famous mountain peak was the inspiration for the Paramount Picture company logo). Back into the Langhe region through the vineyards and hazelnut groves back to Piemonte Bike Tours farmhouse base, “Cascina Belbo”.

At this point you will park and handover the bikes. We will transport you to your accommodation to freshen up then meet for a farewell dinner and time to reflect on your 1720 kms Italian adventure.

Day 9

Breakfast then, “Arrivederci” Drop off at Turin airport until next time!
